Week 2 Home MTC

23 June 2021

Hey Everyone!

It’s been two full weeks now on the mission, and it’s been great! This week was pretty good. Our classes are basically all in Spanish now *sighs in fear*. I know there’s still so much more to learn, but each day I get better and better. It’s also so cool seeing the people in my district progress so fast. I can see progress in all of them.

On Tuesday’s as a district, we meet up in a zoom call to watch a devotional, without our teachers. These moments are the best! Being able to listen to talks and then share our thoughts afterwards is great. The spirit is so strong during these moments.

Lately, we’ve all been getting together in a zoom (while we’re not in class) to either study, or even just to get to know everyone better. These moments are so cool, as we get to know each person a little more each day. Today on our P Day, we got together in a group zoom call to play a kahoot that I created. Sort of a “get to know you” type of game. I had everyone send me 5 questions to put in a kahoot, and we would try to answer them. Turned out pretty good, haha.

I think a lot about what it would be like if we had in person MTC (Mission Training Center), because my companion and I laugh very VERY hard at many things. Like to the point where I have to take myself out of the screen so no one can see me, and to make it worse, whenever I see him trying to hold in a laugh or trying to speak after laughing and being able to hear the shakiness in his voice, I continue to laugh harder, and so on and so on. Usually lasts 5-7 mins, and I really have to focus on trying to keep a straight face. This happens during our companion studies, lesson planning, and even class. oops. So I’m thankful there’s a mute button so I don’t disrupt the classes.

Anyways, while we were doing our companion study (we study as companions once a day. This allows us to prep for the day, increases our knowledge, and builds unity in a companionship), we were talking about recognizing gifts, and he shared with me that as he prayed to recognize his own gifts, he received an answer. He then invited me to do the same. I would like to do the same.

I challenge all of you to pray to recognize your gifts and talents. Also, pray to recognize the gifts/talents of others!

We each have unique and personal gifts/talents that we can share with everyone.

A deer I saw on a walk.
My productive companion (comp) language study. (This is a picture of our teacher’s face on my comp, Elder Fowers). We showed Hermano Mercado later in class. He thought it was funny.
Practicing using tools to teach via Zoom.
Don’t eat 6 rolls of sushi.
A very interesting choice of words from an online site my comp and I were using to study preterite vs. imperfect.
