Hey guys!
This week was great! We focused a lot on the people that we’re teaching that are progressing. We met up with Gerson, Jorge and their Mom, Rosa, and the church for an activity for the women in our ward. While Rosa was with other ladies, Gerson, Jorge and us played basketball . This activity was great for Rosa, she got to meet a bunch of people and now feels a bit more comfortable.
After the activity, we went to visit our friends Andrea and her mom and dad, Irma and Francisco for a lesson. They have a cat that’s named Kimba, and she had babies about 2 months ago but they still don’t have names… They wanted names that started with “K” because of kimbas names, so I said they should name one “Koko” and surely enough, the next day I saw this on her story. (Photo attached). Then I took a pic koko
We also visited Arely a few times this week. She’s awesome. She’s always had doubts and questions, but never is afraid to ask. She’s genuinely curious and wants to know the truth. I’ve been teaching her since I got here and it’s been so great seeing her questions answered over time. This week we answered all her questions that she had, going through each lesson and each principle, and she said now she has no questions. We invited her to pray for a baptismal date!
The weekend. This was honestly one of the best weekends I’ve had on the mission. Not because we had a bunch of activities, or because of the food we ate, but because of the 2 visits we made to Gerson, Jorge (the 13 and 15 yr olds) and their family. Saturday we visited them in their home and got to talk about Christ’s Gospel. We read scriptures, asked them questions, answered their questions and explained baptisms. And at the end, we invited them to be baptized. Immediately, Gerson said, “yes” and looked over to his mom and said, “please mom”. Then Jorge said yes too. They were so quick to respond, but the mom was a little hesitant. We asked the mom how she felt and told us that it’s a big decision and how she wanted to pray for an answer first. WHICH IS AWESOME. We were going to invite her to pray and she invited herself.
On Sunday, we visited their new house a few minutes away and were able to have their dad with us too (also named Jorge). I don’t think I’ll ever forget this day. We were eating Carne Asada with them and their Dad asked us more about baptism and what it’ll be like after his sons and wife are baptized. He had some doubts. We answered his questions, but it’s what Gerson (13) said that really impacted me, and I remember every word he said. “Dad, I feel great in this Church. I don’t wanna do it as an obligation, or even a commitment, I just wanna get baptized.” That made me so happy. I know how bad he wants to get baptized, and know that one day he will. And that he’ll do it because HE wants to.
I hope you all had a great week. Don’t be scared to email me back at Alexandro.Carbajal@missionary.org
Love you guys!
