Week 23

22 Nov 2021

This week was full of great experiences. As you all know, we’ve been working super hard with all our members…soooo, with the help of Hna Remi, we made 130+ cookies for every single member in our branch. These are special cookies. “Extra Most Bestest”. If you want the recipe, all you need to do is watch my YouTube video. Subtle shout out, like and subscribe.

The following day, FOR THE ENTIRE DAY, we walked across the entire city delivering cookies. 35,000+ steps 😤. It was also Kevin’s 18th birthday, so when we stopped by his families house to drop of the cookies, we also gave him some candy treats. When we showed up and said that we had something for him, he looked shocked. Tbh, I don’t think his parents remembered. We were like, “it’s your birthday today right?”, then he asked his mom if she told us and she was like, nope. He then accepted the treats and gave us hugs. Also as we were there, we helped them decorate they’re Christmas tree.
During my second week of this transfer (transfers are 6 weeks long), my mission president told me that id be leaving my area once the transfer ends. At first I wasn’t very sad. It wasn’t until yesterday that it really hit me. There’s a sister in our branch who’s the relief society president, has 3 daughters, and her husband’s in the US working. So she has a big load on her shoulders. (sidenote, our branch doesn’t have too many people, so my companion and I get called to give talks literally 1 hour before our church service VERY OFTEN, and even at times, literally a minute before…. Back to the story).
2 Sundays ago, I got asked to give a talk an hour before church. So I wrote out a talk in English and quickly put it into Google translate, since I didn’t have much time. I talked about the importance of our callings in the church. Well yesterday as I was saying bye to everyone (since today we leave) she pulled me aside and told me how she’s been struggling with everything, and especially her calling. She told me that she talked to the branch president and asked if she could be released from the calling, and the next day is the day I gave my talk. She told me that as I was speaking, it was as the Lord was speaking directly to her, and that it was an answer to her prayers. As she was telling me this she started to get teary eyed, and then so did I. All I can say is that we both started sweating heavily from our eyes.
I truly am going to miss Miahuatlán.
Next week I’ll be with a new comp and new area! Take care everyone
