Week 17

11 Oct 2021

Hey, everyone!

This week was packed with adventures.
On Monday we had our in-person district council. Every time we have the district council we all sleep at our Zone Leaders house, which is a big party. We also eat tacos every time. 🌮
The next day as we were trying to get home, there were blockades through the whole city (idk why, but photos included). We ended up having to go with another pair of missionaries to their area for a bit. All 4 of us managed to fit in a small moto taxi haha. While we were with them, we attended a funeral for a member that passed away in their area. While we were there it was so calm and peaceful. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we know that death is not the end. The sisters family knows that death isn’t the end. The family was peaceful, and had a knowledge that she was in a better place, and that they could live with her again one day.
Also, the 5th was my mom’s bday so i got to talk with her!
Wednesday, we took a bus about an hour away to meet up with out friend Micael to catch up and see how he was doing. He lives in San Jose del Pacífico, and it’s beautiful!
Friday, we made BREAD! A sister in our ward owns a Panadería here, and she’s been needing help. It was great. The guys that worked there weren’t the best teachers, but at least what we made was edible 😁
Sunday, was my comps birthday. Made him pancakes (they’re called hotcakes here 🤔) for breakfast and burgers for dinner. We ate with the Garcia family for lunch and had cake. The son of the family and his wife are about to have a baby. I asked them if they had a name packed out yet and they said no. Even though it’s a girl, I said she should be named Elder Carbajal. They humbly declined. Well, you can’t win em’ all.

Yesterday, I received a call for transfers. I’ll be in the same area for another 6 weeks, but I’ll be getting a new companion 😲
