Week 13

6 Sep 2021

Holaaaaaa
This week was transfers (Every 6 weeks we have the possibility of going to a new area and having a new companion). Since I’m being trained, I’m still here in Miahuatlán with my companion.

This week I finally had my first service opportunity. As we were leaving our church building (casa de oración- it’s a little different then our churches in the states), we passed by a little family shoveling dirt from the street and sidewalk. We passed by them and as we were walking, I said let’s help them, so we turned around and asked if we could help, and they said yes! So for 30-45 mins we helped and talked with them! It was unplanned, but it was great.

Also this Wednesday is the Baptism of our friend Micael! We started teaching him when I first got to Mexico. He’s super cool and has a strong desire to always hear our message. He lives two hours away from us, and works almost every day. He’s been ready for his baptism since early last month, but the only time he could get off from work is this Wednesday. For the past month he’s been attending church through zoom and we’ve been reading thr Book of Mormon with him. I’m super excited for him and to meet him in person!

Updates:
Dogs: If you remember from an older email, I said that I told my companion that all dogs in the US are named John. He didn’t like the name but sometimes called the dogs John too.
Well, it’s been going GREAT. During our exchanges last week (when I go with another Missionary and another Missionary goes with my companion for a day), I told Elder Rockwell about my plan, and he played along. So now my companion has two people calling dogs John.
We have different versions of the name John. Jonathan, John, Jonny, and Johnson. But only those because they have “John” in the name.
Now as we walk the streets daily, he calls all of them John too. And the other day as we were eating food with a member, we saw his cat. We asked what his name was, and he said he didn’t have a name.
*Queue evil theme music*😏
Well what a perfect opportunity I’ve been given. We named him John, and my comp explained why. I didn’t even have to do it. My master plan is all coming together.
If in a few years all the dogs are called John, you’re welcome 😁

Tortas: Well in my first transfer (6 weeks), I had 32 tortas. I’m officially at 36 and counting 👍
