Hey everyone!
This week was awesome and such a great way to finish this transfer. To start off, last Monday, we received a call from Arely. A lady we’ve been teaching ever since I got here. She’s been to church 20 times, has all the lessons she needs, knows all the members, and her daughter got baptized my first transfer. Well, back to the story. She calls us Monday and tells us that she wants to get baptized this Friday! We told her absolutely! But, it didn’t really give us much time to plan everything out.Well, as we were planning, we wanted to see if one of the first Elders to teach her would be able to travel here for the day to do the baptism. We had to call the assistants and they had to call him and then they had to talk to the Mission President. It was a whole crazy thing. Skipping to Friday. Elder Ord and I were able to prep everything and Elder Chavez was able to come! My two previous companions that were here with me (Elders Rosier and Hernandez) were able to connect through zoom and everything played out perfectly (pics included).
Saturday, we had an activity with my zone of 16 missionaries where we, with a few members from the church, were able to go to an area 3 hours from us and contact a small little pueblo that hasn’t received missionaries in 15 years. We arrived, and received assignments of the very few inactive members that lived there. Me, Elder Ord, and the members in our group were assigned to find them. We went around looking for members and near the end we went through an alley and were about to knock on a door and we saw a lady who needed some help with the thing she was holding. We asked her if the lady we were looking for (forgot her name) lived at that house. She asked why, and we said we were looking for because she’s a member of our church, and she asked why and we explained lol. Then she pointed to another house and she said she lived there. We asked her if she knew her and as we began following her she said “I’m her”. She bamboozled us.
More exciting news! Sunday, Gerson and Jorge got baptized! We’ve been waiting for this day for so long. Such a great day! The 2 messages that were shared at every baptism are always the same, but they were so powerful and I personally feel like the messages were for the parents. Gerson and Jorge set the example for their parents and followed the example of Christ.
And after the baptism Brenda, a girl in our ward, got set apart as a missionary and started her mission today! She’ll be serving in Guadalajara!
Also super exciting news! Sister Ferreira is now in Japan! 🙂
More news. After 4 transfers, I will finally be leaving Salina Cruz :(. It’s been a great 6 months here, and I will treasure every moment, and every friendship that I’ve made. Salina Cruz will forever have a place in my heart.
