Week 36

21 Feb 2022

Miracles. Miracles. Miracles.
On Tuesday, we left our house ready for the day and made an unplanned visit to our friend Andrea. When we got there her mom answered and shouted out, “what a miracle”. We thought nothing of it, but once we sat down, she told us that the day before, Andrea said to her, “mom, I think the Elders forgot about me :(“. The mom responded saying, “not true!”. We haven’t visited them in almost 2 weeks, but the day after she asks her mom where we’ve been, we come walking up. Miracle right there.
Also, this week we met with Arely and Larissa almost everyday. They live so close, so when a lesson cancels, we just pop up and they always welcome us with opened arms. We’ve been teaching Arely more about the Book of Mormon using the Boom of Mormon videos that are super-super good. We’ve also been preparing Larissa (the daughter) for something pretty special. More news on that on the future maybe next week.
Saturday, we had an event for our Ward that the young women directed. It was awesome because Larissa and Monica (recent converts both 15) directed the entire thing. Super awesome to see them active and participating in the church!
During the week we met up Gerson and Jorge (brothers ages 13 and 15) and had an awesome lesson about the Restoration. Super super powerful. These kids are rockstars and ask the greatest questions. Once we finished the lesson, Gerson offered one of the sweetest, sincerest most selfless prayers I’ve ever heard. It wasn’t too long, nor too short. Didn’t have big, fancy words, or wasn’t resisted. Simply a kid speaking with his Heavenly Father. I got all teary eyed as he prayed specially for me and Elder Hernández. “Please bless these missionaries, my friends, that they may always be safe no matter where they go.” As he continued with his prayer, it made me think how many times do we give thanks more than we ask for blessings in our prayers? There are so many things to be grateful for. And in his prayer, he prayed more for other people, and gave thanks more than asking for blessings. A 21 year old learning from a 13 year old. The missions a beautiful thing. What is something that you were grateful for this week?
